The City of Fayetteville is the third-largest city in Arkansas and is centrally located within Washington County. It is located in Northwest Arkansas just 35 miles south of the Arkansas/Missouri border and 25 miles west of the Arkansas/Oklahoma border. Fayetteville boasts a population of 78,960 with a student population at the University of Arkansas over 27,000. With all of the resources and amenities of a large city, Fayetteville is tucked away in the foothills of the Ozark Mountains. Fayetteville boasts one of the most unique landscapes throughout the entire state of Arkansas. Mountain trails, running streams, serene lakes and breathtaking fall foliage.

Fayetteville is home to the state's flagship university, The University of Arkansas, which was founded in 1871.

Among the 378 buildings on the campus, 11 buildings have been added to the National Register of Historic Places individually, with most buildings in the historic core being named as contributing properties to the University of Arkansas Campus Historic District.
